Indonesia and Timor Leste will have their first friendly Match

Indonesia is one of Timor Leste’s neighbor had accepted a friendly match with Timor Leste on 24 November, 2010.  The two neighbors had long history from the invasion, referendum, Independences and now friendly match. Timor Leste had fought hard for independences and even for Timorese individual to survive the invasion of 1975 and even Santa Cruz massacre. Many Timorese have lost many of their love one due to Indonesia’s military ( TNI).  Some of Timorese still remember the traumatic event in 1999 (Santa Cruz massacre) and they have move on but the victim of Santa Cruz want to bring justice for Indonesia. Timor Leste national football team had meet Indonesia in 2008 Asian Beach Games. Timor Leste was facing Indonesia during their first game of 2008 Asian Beach Games, which they loss by 9-1. Timor Leste senior team has to pull great turn out for their country this year. Timor Leste football team have gone many changes from drawing Cambodia during 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup and calling all Timorese oversea players to play in Timor Leste in 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup Qualification and 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualification.  What does this friendly match mean for Timor Leste; is it revenge getting back at Indonesia for all the killing or being good neighbor and play well in friendly match. Well we don’t know but we know that was the past and Timor Leste have move on. Indonesia is home for most of Timorese that live there and all the Timorese still can speak Indonesian.  The location of the friendly match is not informed yet but probably will be at Jakarta or Bali. 6 National Heroes of Timor Leste football team

There’s a hero in every National Football Team. Each of these heroes contributed positive result for their country and helps their team to be better in football.  Many famous heroes like Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Nani (Portugal), Bambang Pamungkas (Indonesia) and Budi Sudarsono (Indonesia) help their countries to achieve a good result in every game and to score a goal for their beloved country.

Timor Leste has their own national football heroes, Anggisiu Barbosa, Alfredo Esteves, Deamantino Leong, Jose Perreira, Emilio Da Silva, and Fernando Xavier. These entire players change Timor Leste football team, especially Anggisiu Barbosa, Alfredo and Jose Perreira. In 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup Qualification, Barbosa and his team, Perreira made a draw with Cambodia, Scoring 2-2. This was a very positive result for Timor Leste and it opens a door to new hope for a chance to win a game in future. Let’s learn about our National Football heroes of Timor Leste.

Anggisiu Barbosa nickname “Captain Barbossa”, aggressive and skillful midfielder who have his own away to control the ball and tackle his opponent. He is very fast runner on the field. Captain Barbossa is hungry for more goals and wins for Timor Leste this year. Although he score only one goal for his country,  Barbosa was called a hero because he and his team mate, Jose Perreira made Timor Leste tied with Cambodia. Barbosa had promise to all Timorese and his country that he will perform the best and all –out in this a event.

Alfredo Esteves, a Portuguese football star have helped a lot for his country, Timor Leste. Not only in football that he helped but the people too.  Each year, when Esteves was called to the national football team, he always makes sure that his team will do better than the last year.  His performance is unbelievable, he guard and defense his team very well, even made a goal during 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup Qualification. Alfredo Esteves had played a lot of football club in the world, USA, Portugal and Australia. Esteves is currently playing his third seasons in South Coast Wolves Football Club in Wollongong, Australia.

Deamantino Leong nickname “The Great Octopus of Timor Leste” who played in Dili Weste on FFTL-Digicel Cup. Leong have played in Timor Leste national football team for six years. Leong is one of the top Goalkeeper of Timor Leste. He has 12 caps playing in Timor Leste national football team. Leong had admired Gianluigi Buffon, an Italian Goalkeeper that saves a lot of goals. Leong have used Buffon’s method of Goalie but unfortunately he has not success using that method. Leong is 180 cm tall that can jump very high.  Leong has great hands to snatch the ball from his opponent.  Many of his team in Dili Weste calls him “The Great Octopus of Timor Leste” because he has amazing reflex and long arms.

Jose Perreira, is midfielder for Manatuto in FFTL-Digicel Cup. Perreira score penalty kick in 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup Qualification during the match of Cambodia on 67 minutes of the game. The result of that game was tied.  Perreira have scored nine goals in Manatuto and he has 10 caps in his football club.

Emilio Da Silva nickname Milo, has the most goals in Timor Leste. Milo has scored three goals during 2010 FIFA World Cup Qualification with their opponent, Hong Kong.  The first leg of the competition, Milo scored two goals in lead. The result of that game was 2-3, Timor Leste loss to Hong Kong. Milo is one of the toughness Striker in his country, Timor Leste. In Bobonaro Football Club, he scored 4 goals during the match of Ainaro Football Club. Milo and Leong has 12 caps in Timor Leste national football team. “I’m ready to score a lot of goals during this 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup Qualification and I’m not scared with other opponent of the other teams” said Emilio “I think we could win Cambodia, Laos and Philippines”, he added.

Fernando Xavier has always love football since a young age. He played with the other kids in his village when he was growing up. Xavier was introduced to the world of football and Timor Leste in 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup Qualification and later on he played in 2009 SEA Games. He played all the matches but didn’t score a goal. However, this year in his Football Club career playing for Baucau Football Club, he scored 13 goals at the end of the seasons. Timor Leste national football team and Federacao de Futebol de Timor Leste has allowed Xavier to have his second chance to play for the national team. “This year, we have a lot of pressure from our people Timorese; they want us, the national team to go through the qualification round, I think as the best strikers in Baucau, I will make that promised” said Xavier. I feel confidence that our team and I will performance better, he added.

Clodoaldo is out;another 4 candidates likely to be the coach of Timor Leste

Clodoaldo have change his mind not come to Timor Leste due to his family member. He said that his family is important than coaching Timor Leste national football team. He added that he do not have the experiences to be coach beside that he do not like the pressure from the fans of Timor Leste. Clodoaldo decided to give his job to his two friends, Antonio Carlos Vieira (Brazil), Francisco Oliveira (Brazil). Antonio Carlos Viera had coach Belize national football team in 2006 to 2007. Federacao de Futebol de Timor Leste had received many candidate to be the coach of Timor Leste in 2010. Here are the name of the candidates, Antonio Carlos Vieira (Brazil), Francisco Oliveira (Brazil), Goncalo Nunes (Portugal), and Raja Isa (Malaysia). All we’ve got a curriculum vitae, and FFTL is now in discussions to determine who will be handled the national team,” said General Sectary Amandio Sarmento  on Wednesday, August 11, in FFTL House. The coach selected will join assistant coach, Pedro Baiasa and Manuel Pinto. A strong candidate that will handle the team well is Antonio Carlos Vieira. Timor Leste national football team and Federacao de Futebol de Timor Leste had called their 30 squad players that will played in 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup Qualification in Laos. Most of the player are from  FFTL –Digicel Cup. Here are some of the players, Joaquim Leonel, Anggisiu Barbosa, Eusebio Almeida,Miguel Soares , Salvador Carlos, Vicente Ramos,Deamantino Leong,Emilio Riberiro,Helder Mota, Florencio Pereira, Efren Jeronimo,Seran Rogerio, and Cipriano Branco. Timor Leste had even call 12 players from abroad said General Sectary of FFTL, Amandio Sarmento. Here are the 12 players from abroad , Nahuel Arrarte (Australia) , Chris Nunes (Australia), Montenario Soares ( Australia), Michael Fiorenza (Australia), Ricky Cameirao (Australia), Alfredo Esteves (Australia), Americo Ximenes (Northern Ireland), Estanislau Li (Northern Ireland),  Sidonio Augosto de Jesus (New Zealand), Torres Vidigal Kohemane (Malaysia), Diogenes Zanini (Brazil) and Jao Rodrigues Pereira (Indonesia). Out of 30 players was called, only 22 will be going to Laos Said Sarmento. “These players will follow a tranining center for physically and discipline and mentality for two weeks in the F-FDTL Academic Metinaro” Explained Amandio. All of these players are ready to defend and win for Timor Leste in 2010 AFF Suzuki Qualification in Laos.

In 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup Qualification, Laos; Timor Leste will face a host of Laos, Cambodia, Philippines, and Brunei Darussalam. The game itself will be held at 22 until October 30, 2010.
In AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 in Cambodia, Timor Leste despite playing well, but failed to carry his team to qualify for the final. In four games played, Timor Leste is only able to reach a value as you hold the 2-2 draw with host Cambodia, then lost 0-1 from the Philippines, Laos and 1-2 from 1-4 from Brune Darussalam.

Timor Leste sign ERREA kit deal

FFTL (Federacao de Futebol de Timor Leste) has signed a 3-year kit deal with ERREA, which started from October 9, 2010. The 3 years contract with ERREA will last three years until 2013.

The National Football team will have new kits provided by ERREA from October 16 when they gather to prepare for the 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup’s qualifying match against Cambodia, Laos, and Philippines.

The design of kits for official matches was approved by the Federacao de Futebol de Timor Leste (FFTL) while that of training equipment has still been under consideration.

This is first Asian team that ERREA will  Sponsor.
